Matt Damon was team Bennifer.
When Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance in 2021 — almost 20 years after they ended their first engagement — Damon, 53.
Got candid on how he felt about the reunion.
“I’m just so happy for him,” Damon told Extra in 2021. “He’s the best. He deserves every happiness in the world. I’m glad for both of them.”
And now that Lopez, 55, has filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, the “Gone Girl” alum is leaning on Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso.
Affleck was spotted with the couple at dinner Sunday night and appeared to be in good spirits despite his two-year marriage ending.
The trio dined at the Italian hot spot Toscana in Los Angeles, with the newly single actor sporting a white T-shirt, a beige button-up, jeans and Nikes.
Damon wore a black polo shirt and dark denim, twinning with his wife of almost 19 years, who dressed in a black crop top and matching pants.
Affleck arrived solo and drove himself while Damon and Barroso showed up with their kids.
Despite his relationship ending, the “Jersey Girl” star was captured laughing alongside the valet after dinner, per a video obtained by TMZ.
Their night out on the town comes a week after Lopez filed for divorce without an attorney on the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony. The singer listed the date of separation as April 26.
The duo allegedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement. Lopez did not request spousal support and asked the judge to deny Affleck’s support.
Following their 2022 engagement, they tied the knot in July of that year at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas before saying “I do” for a second time at Affleck’s estate in Riceboro, Georgia, a month later.
Reports have surfaced that the “Air” director’s “erratic mood swings” contributed to their split.
“The truth is there was a great deal of love but also unfortunately what became clear were Ben’s erratic mood swings that he couldn’t hide from the press, as much as he tried to,” a source told People Saturday. “You could see the erratic behavior, the giant mood swings.”
The insider also shared that Affleck would go from “being incredibly happy and warm — the best light that emanated from him” to “the deepest, darkest behavior.”
They added, “I think he was signaling a message to the press.”
“But when the mood swings and the big highs and big lows informed a toxicity that was pervasive, no one can help you — you have to help yourself,” the insider continued.
“But I would not be so bold to say there isn’t love — of course there is,” they concluded. “The world was rooting for them, but who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people.”
