Belle and Chas confront Tom with Amelia in the background of the pub in Emmerdale

Fears are growing for Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) in future Emmerdale episodes, as she continues to be in the clutches of evil Tom King (James Chase).

Tom started a relationship with Amelia after Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) told him that she’d had enough of his coercive, controlling and abusive behaviour and their marriage was over. While Belle could see only too clearly that Tom was using Amelia to try to make her jealous and get at her, poor Amelia is totally taken in by his superficial charm.

Kind-hearted and somewhat gullible, Amelia has been easily influenced by Tom, who has made her believe that he was the victim in his relationship with Belle.

He described Belle as being violent and out of control of her own mental health, and has asserted that the allegations of abuse that Belle has made against him are completely made up by her.

When Tom vanished from the village, scared that Belle’s brother Cain (Jeff Hordley) might attack him, we soon saw that Amelia was still in contact with him. After he was hospitalised when Belle attacked him with an axe in self defence, Amelia still took his side.

Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and others have tried to get Amelia to see reason but she’s smitten by Tom and believes he loves her.

Lydia (Karen Blick) almost got through to her, but when Amelia questioned Tom about his true feelings he managed to fob her off with some smooth talk, and she was satisfied that his feelings for her were genuine.

In upcoming episodes Amelia is thrilled when Tom arranges a date for them both. As they meet up at the Woolpack, this public demonstration of the fact that they’re a couple is everything that Amelia has wanted.

But, as always with Tom, there’s another agenda. He’s partly putting on a show for the benefit of Chas and the other Dingles, showing them that he can continue to do exactly what he likes in the village.

And one thing is for certain – Amelia may think he cares about her, but she’s in serious danger as soon as she’s no longer useful to him.
