Emmerdale’s Tom King’s abuse storyline against Belle took an even darker twist on Thursday (August 15) as his latest plan to control his estranged wife were confirmed.
Belle Dingle (played by Eden Taylor-Draper) returned home from visiting her family in Scotland as she took a much-needed break away from the village.
Her marriage to Tom (James Chase) broke down last month following a trip to a derelict village in Wales where he planned to take a new job, without telling her.
His violent abuse became apparent to Belle and she fled their holiday cottage with her dog Piper in tow and headed back home.
Belle found the strength to seperate from Tom but he continued to make her life a misery by cutting off access to their bank accounts
and told their friends she was romantically involved with Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).
She later left the village after Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) suggested Belle should visit her dad, but now she has arrived home – and Tom’s behaviour has spiralled.
In an attempt to win back the affections of his wife, Tom bought Belle a new car but she refused to accept it.
“The reason I won’t accept it is because I don’t want to get back together,” Belle told Tom as he became visibly angry.
He then told Belle he would end his own life if their marriage wasn’t going to work out in a sickening blackmail plot. Belle told Tom she needed some space, if it was ever going to work, and suggested no contact for a while.
But in a creepy twist, Tom had installed secret cameras in their cottage and watched Belle shower and sleep from his mobile phone.
Emmerdale fans were mortified by Tom’s sick ploy to spy on Belle, and shared their anger on social media.
Taking to X, one viewer wrote: “Tom being in the house and also watching Belle when she has no idea is the creepiest sh*t I’ve ever seen #emmerdale.”
A second exclaimed: “Tom testing new cameras to spy on Belle the creepy **** #Emmerdale”, while a third chimed in: “Ah that’s a step to far, Tom installing cameras to spy is bad enough but in the bathroom ffs the sick t***.”
“Dear Lord. Tom is seriously sick #Emmerdale”, added another.
