Actor and Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has revealed the one lie he told co-star Lisa Riley to get her back on the ITV soap.
The soap legend, 54, who has played loveable vet Paddy Kirk since 1997 on the hit ITV soap.
Is part of a huge storyline this week as his character prepares to tie the knot to Mandy Dingle. However, in true soap style, a shock bombshell leaves their nuptials in jeopardy.
Speaking about the storyline on Wednesday’s Loose Women, Dominic admitted he told a lie to get Mandy star Lisa, 48, back on the soap as he missed her.
The actor has worked with Lisa since 1997 until she left the soap in 2001 before returning 18 years later in 2019, where she has been a village staple ever since.
Dominic told the Loose Women studio: “Oh I just told her a lie, yeah, she said: ‘Is it still full on, is it still really busy?’
I think we were filming two or three episodes a week at that point when she left. I said: ‘No, no, no, it’s calm. You can be busy then you go quiet then you go busy then quiet.’
“Then two years later she was going: ‘You lied to me!’ and I was like” to which he shrugged his arms. Explaining his reason for the lie, he added: “I just wanted her back because I really missed her!”
Only recently on Emmerdale, Mandy resorted to desperate measures amid her serious debts and set up a findom account, which is a financial dominatrix. However, her secret side hustle was exposed this week by father-in-law Bear and on Wednesday night he reveals all to a blindsided Paddy, who contemplates whether to go ahead with his marriage or not.
Earlier this year, Paddy and Mandy got engaged following a tumultuous time for the couple. Prior to the proposal, Mandy was upset that Paddy, who had previously humiliated her at an event, kissed his former flame Chas Dingle. To hit back at him, she kissed doctor Liam Cavanagh to get back at her partner.
However, despite the drama, they decided to get back together when Paddy surprised Mandy in his Prince Charming outfit. When they were home later, Paddy decided he didn’t want to lose Mandy and he proposed to her.
This isn’t the first time the duo have been married and they tied the knot back in 1999. However, back in the 90s, Mandy and Paddy’s marriage came to an end after she had an affair with her college lecturer, with Mandy soon leaving the village and not returning until 2019.
