Did Jason Just Call Anna a Hypocrite on General Hospital?

Did you hear it?

General Hospital’s Jason pointed out to Anna her double standard.

With Brennan now running a WSB outpost in Port Charles, and Agent Cates wading through town with impunity, Anna certainly has her work cut out for her on General Hospital. She’s even made it clear that she’s gunning for local mobster Sonny, but that comes with a double standard, and Jason called her out on it.

He Threw Her Past in Her Face

The once amazing friendship built on mutual respect between police commissioner Anna (Finola Hughes) and our favorite racketeer, Sonny (Maurice Benard), had gone by the wayside when she decided she wouldn’t turn a blind eye to his illegal activities anymore. On the August 21 episode of GH, she told Jason that he was caught between two worlds: hers and Sonny’s, and he needed to pick one. She felt that he could have had a better life if Sonny hadn’t taken him under his wing when he was young.  (Find out how Sonny lost his besties!)

She further claimed that he “Can’t hide behind naivete and a misplaced loyalty anymore. You’ve long since learned better,” implying he shouldn’t be taking orders from a known mobster. He sharply retorted, “When did you learn better?” He asked if it was after she had been a double agent, her relationship with Faison ended, or even after she said goodbye to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), deftly throwing her checkered past in her face.

She’s Loved Mobsters in the Past

Jason boldly went a step further, exclaiming, “You stand there and demand better from me when you have compromised again and again, and you’re compromising right now.” Ouch. He was not only referring to the fact that she gave Valentin time to escape the authorities when they were coming down on him, but it was also a nod to her numerous past affiliations with criminals such as Duke (Ian Buchanan). (Check out Buchanan’s views on life!)

She couldn’t disagree but replied that Jason didn’t have to be compromised, and he had an opportunity to get out of the mob. He thanked her for informing him of that, and before he left, she vowed to take Sonny down, proving Jason’s point.

Anna seems to have a double standard; on the one hand, she wants to throw criminals in jail, and on the other, she’s friends with them, sometimes even having romantic relationships with them. At least Jason called her out on her hypocrisy, but it will take Sonny saving Port Charles from an imminent threat for her to back off him.

The tension between Jason and Anna on General Hospital continues to escalate as Jason calls her out on her double standard regarding criminal activities. Despite her determination to take down Sonny, Anna’s past affiliations with criminals and past actions have come back to haunt her as Jason questions her judgment. Jason pointedly reminds Anna of her own compromised past, including her time as a double agent and her relationships with notorious criminals like Duke. He challenges her to look in the mirror and question her own motives before demanding better from him. While Anna insists that Jason has a chance to leave the mob life behind and make better choices, Jason’s words seem to have struck a nerve. It remains to be seen how Anna will respond to Jason’s accusations and whether she will continue to pursue Sonny despite the potential consequences. The complex dynamic between Anna and Sonny, as well as Jason’s involvement in the situation, adds layers of intrigue to the storyline on General Hospital.
